Iquique, Chile struck by moderate earthquake
Iquique, Chile has been struck by a moderate magnitude 5.6 earthquake, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake's epicenter was located approximately 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) east, northeast of Iquique and had a depth of 35 km (21.7 miles).
According to the USGS, damage could be moderate, but so far there are no reports of damage, injuries or deaths. Iquique has a population of over 227,000 people.
